Much like my mini-SDA for February in which I recorded a short video showing both what my program looks like and how it functions. This month, I wish to create another video going into greater detail regarding how I solved some problems that I encountered. Developing my program was a long process that involved lots of trial and error. Achieving my goals with this program required me to come up with more and more creative solutions. In this recording, I would like to go over some of the larger issues I encountered and exactly how I dealt with them. Towards the beginning of the process, I had written my code to be tailored to myself and my voice to prove that my phonetic method works. Being that creating a program that works for only one person and one name was essentially the exact opposite of my overall goal for this project, I would have to test it with different voices and more names. I collected more data in the form of both a newer and more diverse set of names, and recordings of me, my mom, and my dad each saying them. I tried to use these new recordings with my pre-existing program, but immediately encountered problems deriving from the inherent bias towards myself within the code. These issues involved previous assumptions for which I had to account for exceptions and special cases that would require entirely new rules and logic. In my SDA, I plan on going through these issues along with my solutions.
