The image above is my rubric for my October Student-Designed Assignment. For this assignment, I decided to write a scholarly article about my topic of speech recognition. I gave myself an "I Think I Nailed it" for the Questioning Skills category because I do believe that my essential goal was fairly clear and thought out. With this paper, I wanted to give readers a basic breakdown of how speech recognition works and what my plan was for my program. I feel as though this goal was very clear in my paper. I also gave myself an "I Think I Nailed it" for the Research section because I only had three references for my paper. Even with this limited amount of resources, I was still able to establish a very good knowledge basis for my topic and paper. For the Evidence category, I gave myself an "Exceeds Expectations" because I was able to include facts from my research and graphs and charts from my own experiments. The research I did not only informed my paper but also my experiments the results of which I included in my paper to add a visual aspect that helps readers understand my topic better. For the Planning category, I gave myself an "Exceeds Expectations" because I did spend a good amount of time planning what would go into my paper. I also got plenty of help from my coordinator regarding the proper way to go about writing a scholarly paper. For the final Product category, I gave myself "I Think I Nailed it" because I feel it informs the public and shows progress in my project. I feel as though I only used 4/5Cs because a scholarly paper lacks in creativity, but serves as a great direct way to educate the audience.
